Service Opportunities

  • Midtown / Metro Tutoring and Mentoring - Metro Achievement Center for girls, which is located at 310 S. Peoria (just north of UIC in Greektown) does a lot of great work in our community and is looking for women of strength and character to act as mentors/tutors to 7th through 12th grade inner city girls. They are in real need of more volunteers who will serve as good examples of friendship, honesty, courage, dignity and respect towards their students. Please call Sharon Hefferan, Metro Director at 312-226-4886, ext. 231 or shefferan@midtown-metro.org to learn more. The Center next to St. Mary's is the Midtown Center for boys. Both centers are looking for volunteer tutors and mentors. The contact for men who want to volunteer is Angel Diaz, One-on-One Program Manager at 773-292-2662 or adiaz@midtown-metro.org.

  • Catholic Charities needs people to serve dinner to the poor every Tuesday at 5:00pm at their LaSalle & Superior location. Anyone interested should contact Dorey Kuhn at 312-655-7322.
