JPII

Theology of the Body Study Group

We meet once a month to read John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. Newcomers and visitors are welcome! We read aloud, and then discuss, each reading. It’s not necessary to read the material before the meeting. Copies of the reading will be provided for those who don’t have the book. Pizza, snacks, and beverages will be provided. For those interested, socializing at a nearby pub/eatery will follow the meeting. We have met at St. Mary of the Angels Parish Center, 1850 N. Hermitage Ave., Chicago (just off the Armitage exit on the Kennedy Expy), and at other locations in the city. Call 773-316-8177 to speak with a group member for this month’s meeting date and location.

The text is "Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body" by John Paul II (author) and Michael Waldstein (translator), Pauline Books and Media, 2006.

Rosary Groups

Say the Rosary every day, to obtain peace for the world...
Pray, pray a great deal and offer sacrifices for sinners
-Our Lady of Fatima

There are a few groups at Saint Mary's and nearby locations that meet regularly to pray the rosary:

  • The Legion of Mary meets to pray the rosary on Tuesdays at 6:30pm in the Breezeway. You do not have to stay for the meeting but you are more than welcome to.

  • The Faith Formation Commission of St. Michael’s in Old Town is hosting a Rosary Prayer Group which meets in the church every Thursday evening at 7:00PM. All who are interested are invited to attend.

  • For our friends in the suburbs, there is a group in Palatine that meets at 7:30 on Wednesdays. They say the rosary in addition to studying the Introduction to the Devout Life (the writings of St. Francis DeSales, Doctor of the Church). For information on this group you can contact John Garner at johgarner@hotmail.com

Bible Study

Bible Study

The Men's Faith Sharing Group provides Catholic men with a forum to study the Bible together, to compare experiences striving to lead a faithful Catholic life, and to encourage one another to continue to grow in the Catholic faith.

We are faithful to Church teachings, respectful of each other, welcoming of participants from different rites, apostolic movements, and other catholic organizations, and require confidentiality to encourage participation.

We meet at 9am on Saturdays at St Mary of the Angels.
